Learn the basics of filmmaking in this hands-on weekend workshop! Start in the classroom with HWFAA Director, Joshua Scott Sands, and get a feel for the equipment and planning. Then, go on location and film a 2 to 5 minute short movie. You'll be learning how to handle the camera, how to light the scenes, how to capture the sounds and even to direct actors! The next day will take you to the classroom where you will be introduced to Final Cut Pro and the basics of editing. At the end of the class you will be better prepared to create your own home movies or know for certain that you want to take the big dive into more indepth film classes!

In the 2-Day Short Movie Program students will learn the basics in Directing, Cinematography, and Editing. This Program is designed to teach our students the basics in pre-production, production and post-production with a focus on Directing, Cinematography, and Editing. The 2-Day Short Movie Program is divided into two phases. Day 1 is Instruction/Pre-production To ensure personal attention from instructors, we only accept 10 students per class. In the 2-Day Short Movie Program, YOU will make a SHORT MOVIE IN A GROUP! Heres what you'll learn: Cinematography Directing Editing with Final Cut Pro Hands-on This is a one of a kind program and a great way for new students to get their start in filmmaking.
